Malco M12NG 12-Inch Straight Cut Aluminum Snip with Comfort Grip
These snips work very well apart from the “comfort grip”. They are light, with well-shaped handles, and make it easy to make long straight (or nearly straight) cuts in 26 ga galvanized steel sheet, without producing buckled edges. I haven’t tried them on heavier sheet – I expect they would be fine on 24 ga, but start to struggle on anything beyond that.
The problem with the grip material is that it snags the edges of the sheet metal you are cutting. Eventually, the grip material will get cut up by the edges of the sheet metal.
Since you should be wearing gloves when cutting sheet metal, the grip material offers no real benefit. Fortunately, Malco sells the same snip without the comfort grip feature (search for “Malco M12N”) – that’s the one you should buy.
