Compound leverage increases mechanical advantage nearly 7 to 1. Simply squeeze handles together with one hand while holding stud in place. A unique punch and die shape creates a rectangular crimp, bending over thickness of channel and stud at the same time to form a sturdy bond. Crimp is always the proper strength and resists stress from any angle. Spring return handles snap the punch back in a ready position to go on to the next stud or fastening point. Lightweight and compact size allows the user to work overhead or in tight quarters with ease. Tool fits inside the smallest stud and runner. Punch and dies are constructed from high quality tool steel and are easily replaceable. Body of tool consists of an aluminum/zinc die cast ‘C’ frame and rust resistant, nickel plated steel handles and parts. Malco PL1 Metal Stud Punch Crimper

This device works as advertised and saves a lot of effort over screwing metal studs together. Also, you don’t have to drywall over screw heads, which is a big plus. You can easily remove a stud if you’ve crimped it in the wrong place, but be aware if you try to crimp near the same location. It won’t hold as well as an original crimp. Highly recommended if you prefer to use light gauge metal studs, big time and effort saver
The Malco steel stud crimper allows you to assemble a wall of steel studs quickly with the added avantage of easily being able to move studs if a mistake is made. The tool is well made and easy to use.
For anyone that installs metal studs, this crimper is amazing. It saves so much time and effort to crimp metal studs in places that screws cannot or are difficult to set. The pricing is well worth it. I’m completely satisfied with this product. I reccommend it highly. It should be in every metal worker’s tool kit!
But screws hold better. I found it worth the money, as I could not get into a tight spot and this went in easily. Also, for those marginal areas, you can use it for a starter hole for a screw
This crimper is excellent to use with metal stud, but you will still need some room (about 2 inches) in the back of the stud to work with it.
