We just had the Old Shake Roof of our house replaced with a new “improved” one. I couldn’t believe all the metal staples that came off the old one. The roofers left our yard full of nails, so I called a local equipment rental company in our small town. They did not have one for rent. I compared prices and for our budget this one seemed to be the best. I had my grandson mow the lawn the day before the roofers started the job of replacing our roof. The lawn was therefore still fairly short when the Magnetic sweeper did it’s job, which was a good thing. My husband said he was so surprized with all the staples and even other pieces of metal that somehow were never seen under the grass in our yard. I would recommend this magnetic sweeper with one reservation, and that has caused my rating to be only a 4 star: It did a great job of picking up the metal, but despite the “quick release” which is merely a lever that removes the contact of the magnet to the bar that picks up, my husband still had to scrape off many of the metal pieces to get them into our trash can.
Works well on hard surfaces, but in the grass not so great. The grass has a tendancy to knock the stuff off that you’ve already picked up. Also, the welded nut on the handle (for the wing bolt) was broken off and laying in the bottom of the box when it was delivered. I couldn’t return it because I needed it the next day for a job. It wasn’t a big deal though; I just drilled through and put on a bolt and a wing nut. All in all; not bad for the price.
A nice tool for the price, i would suggest for limited use. We have rebuilt this tool for our needs, it was coming apart after several weeks of use of about 2 hours per day
The unit does not have a very solid feel, but it performs well, especially for the price. I recently had new siding, windows, doors, and roofing installed and this sweeper has picked up over 5 pounds of nails, screws, and other fasteners the contractors failed to clean up from the exterior of my home. Like others my unit arrived dented where the axles attach to the main unit, due to poor packaging by the vendor.
Service was excellent. Product even arrived ealier than expected. It works well but, the handle feels like it’s going to fall off any moment. Overall, good product, great service.
